In the narrowness and solitude of its streets, in the mysterious courtyards that are glimpsed, in Córdoba poetry sprouts in every corner. Verses of stone and thought between the labyrinth of its streets. Squares that open to meet the passerby in one of the most extensive old quarters of Europe. Overturned on the river and trimming its city profile against the backdrop of the mountains, Cordoba is savoured in multiple dimensions, between the flow of history and the bustle of life.
Cordoba occupies a central position in southern Spain and the Autonomous Community of Andalusia; in whose historic quarter you can still see the vestiges of a city that seemed to be born to occupy a central role in the great empires that have settled in the Iberian Peninsula. Thus Cordoba was the capital of Hispania Ulterior in times of the Roman Republic, of the Betic province during the Roman Empire and of the Ummayad Caliphate during the Al-Andalus, the muslim period. Of the latter are still preserved mosques, baths, souks and libraries that abounded in that, also during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was an illustrated city.If you want to know more in depth do not miss our posts.
