The Itinerary

Day 1 - Madrid

We will explore the only european capital with islamic roots. Its origin dated back to the 9th century emir Muhamad I built a fortress to protect the routes to Toledo. We will explore the trendy and beautiful quarter Las Letras heading to world famous Plaza Mayor and the square Puerta del Sol. Near the Royal Palace we will find the remains of the 8th-century old fortress. We will explore too the quarter La Latina the muslim quarter Moreria for centuries after the christian conquest in 1085. The foodies may want to visit one of the top food market, San Miguel. Shopping tour in the best areas of Madrid like Gran Via or Serrano.

Day 2 - Madrid to Granada

Travel to Granada in Andalucia, the southern region of Spain. In the evening, we will walk through the riverside boulevard to see the 16th century palaces and lovely bridges, and explore narrow streets of this historic quarter. Stop in beautiful lookouts like San Nicolas square and lively streets. Later, we will explore the Sacromonte quarter where you will amaze with the house-caves.

Day 3 - Granada

Enjoy the guided tour of the Alhambra complex including Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba and Generalife. Visit to the museum inside Carlos V Palace. Discover the local handicrafts: the Fajalauza a traditional ceramic technique of hand painted glazed clay brought 500 years from Middle East. And the Taracea a decorative art consisting in adding pieces of ivory, silver or bone in wood.

Day 4 - Granada to Cordoba

Road journey to Cordoba (2h30) The city was the former capital of al-Andalus by the first Umayyad emir, Abd al-Rahman I in the early 8th-century. During the muslim period, Cordoba became a center of knowledge with countless libraries, schools and universities. We will explore the old medina, popular know as Jewish quarter instead. Walking through these narrow streets you will learn the history of this neighborhood listed by world heritage too. We will see many examples of islamic architecture from Al Andalus times. Take a nice shot over the river Guadalquivir and Calahorra from the famous bridge. We will discover the roman origin of the city visiting the remains of the theater. Visit a jewelry to see why cordobese workshops of silver and gold are world famous in techniques like the filigree. During your stay may like to taste local tapas at Victoria Food Market or enjoy a halal meal of Moroccan, egyptian or sirian cuisine.

Day 5 - Cordoba to Seville

Early morning, we will visit San Basilio quarter to enjoy the beauty of its whitewashed houses and courtyards full of flowers. Pop in the arts & crafts shops and discover the local handcrafts. At 11:30 a.m. we will visit the old Mosque of Cordoba, famous for its architecture, the site is a world heritage. The building nowadays belongs to the christian church, its the cathedral of the city.

Road journey to Seville (1h30), the capital of Andalucia. In the evening we will explore ancient Isbilya to discover the islamic heritage of the city while exploring the old medina: the Giralda (old minaret) and Santa Cruz quarter. In times of the caliphate, it was an important route to Cordoba. was a wealthy city for years thanks to the bustling activity of its river port which flows into the Atlantic ocean. Here were established the main routes for trading with the New World since the America’s Discovery. Enjoy the guided tour of the beautiful palaces of the Royal Alcazar. 

Day 6 - Seville to Algarve (Portugal)

Road journey to Portugal (3h) heading south to the region of Algarve. Wander around Lagos’s old town enclosed within 16th century walls, on pretty cobbled streets and picturesque plazas. The vast sands of Meia Praia stretch for over four kilometers. Plenty of water sports are on offer in the summer. In addition, there are numerous boat trip options, focusing on birdwatching, fishing, or even spotting the Algarve dolphins. We will visit too other nice beaches surrounded by great rock formations, Praia do Porto de Mos and Camilo Beach.

Day 7- Algarve to Lisbon

Continue the journey to Lisbon (3h) making stops on the way to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Algarve. Lisbon, the capital of Portugal is located on the banks of the Tejo river much of its character and charm lies in its beautiful renovated buildings, grand boulevards and impressive castles.

Day 8 - Lisbon

Enjoy the walking tour through the old town, discover the medieval citadel of Sao Jorge Castle, which dates back to Al Andalus times and sits on the highest point. Look down on a city swarming with endless angular white houses and buildings with distinct red terracotta rooftops. Explore Bairro Alto quarter and beautiful palaces, the  belvederes of Graça and 16th-century houses of the Alfama quarter. Enjoy  to the to the historic neighborhood of Belem.

Day 9 - Lisbon to Sintra

Today we will visit Sintra a beautifu mountain village 30 km away from Lisbon to explore its world heritage cultural landscape.   The exotic gardens on the hills and the palaces give the National Park of Sintra the look of a fairy tale! Visit the 19th-century Romantic Da Pena Palace, located on a high peak, dominating the views from the town. We will get back to Lisbon afterwards. Afterwards we will stop at the Moorish castle a fortification founded in the 10th century.

Day 10 - Lisbon

We will continue exploring downtown in the morning according to your flight departure. Private shuttle to airport.
